About
Hidden Creek Family Farm

Hidden Creek Family Farm was born from a longing for something slower, simpler, and more meaningful.

Before we found our way to North Carolina, our family was living a full—but fast—suburban life near Orlando, Florida. Amanda was a teacher, Josh worked in higher education, and like many families, we were caught in the constant hustle. As our family grew, we began to miss the kind of childhood that feels rooted in the outdoors—hands-on, screen-free, and unhurried. We wanted space to breathe. Space to connect. Space to just be.

When the opportunity came to move to North Carolina, we took a leap of faith. We found ten acres nestled in the foothills, surrounded by mountain views and a small-town rhythm that felt like coming home. What we didn’t know then was that this land would become more than our family’s refuge—it would become a place for community.

From the beginning, God has been at the center of this story. From finding the property, to shaping the vision for the farm, to surrounding us with the right people and resources, we have felt guided every step of the way.
Faith comes first here, family second, and career third. Hidden Creek exists because of gratitude, trust, and a calling to create something that serves others.

At its heart, Hidden Creek Family Farm was created for families.

For homeschool families looking for a local, affordable place to learn outdoors.
For large families with wide age gaps who want to experience life together.
For neurodivergent children—and parents—who need calmer, sensory-friendly spaces.
For moms of littles and grandmothers alike who want a place to gather, drink coffee, and watch children play without judgment or rush.

We are neurodivergent ourselves, and we know firsthand how overwhelming crowds, noise, and rigid schedules can be. Hidden Creek is intentionally the opposite. Even our larger events are kept small, thoughtful, and welcoming. When families enter the farm, our hope is that they feel it immediately—that sense of safety, calm, and belonging. This is a place where kids can run, get dirty, explore freely, and follow their curiosity, while parents finally get to relax and listen to the sounds of nature and farm animals instead of constant noise.

Learning here looks different.

At Hidden Creek, learning grows naturally when children feel safe, curious, and connected. Kids are free to explore based on their interests and joy, building relationships with each other, with animals, and with the land. We believe boredom is not something to fear—it’s where curiosity is born. Children don’t need constant stimulation to learn. Some of the most meaningful learning happens when kids spend hours in a sand pile, caring for animals, or simply playing.

Animals are central to our farm because they reconnect us to what really matters. When we care for animals, we’re reminded that all living creatures need the same basic things: shelter, food, water, and connection. That truth slows us down. It teaches responsibility, empathy, and presence—lessons that stick far longer than any perfect final product.

The magic of Hidden Creek isn’t loud or flashy.

It’s found in children’s laughter drifting across the pasture.
In families sitting together at sunset.
In crafting by hand, fireside stories, tea parties, movie nights, and shared traditions.

We don’t believe childhood—or family life—should be rushed. Our culture often overstimulates and overcompensates, pushing families to do more, faster. Hidden Creek invites you to do less, slower, and together.

This farm is also about stewardship and empowerment. We want to honor farming and preserve farmland, while encouraging families—even those without land—to reconnect with simple skills at home. Whether that looks like composting, growing herbs, baking bread, or supporting small businesses, we believe these small steps matter.

Most of all, Hidden Creek exists to be a village.

To the moms who stay home out of caution or fear of judgment—you are welcome here.
Come as you are. Let your cup be filled.
Your children will leave tired, happy, and full of memories.

And if you’re nervous, need quieter hours, or want a more personal experience, private tours are always available.

Hidden Creek Family Farm exists because one tired, overwhelmed teacher desired more—for her own family and for her community. It was born from a vision to create a different lifestyle, a place of safety, creativity, faith, and connection.

We’re so glad you’re here. And we can’t wait to welcome you into the Hidden Creek family. 🌿
